8-ball qualifiers & board updates

8-ball tournament

Qualifying for the 8-ball tournament is in full swing! Four players have advanced to the finals on May 11 and twelve spots remain.

The $25 entry fee grants participation in all qualifying tournaments and a commemorative T-shirt. Click through to the Calendars tab for information about locations and times.

Board updates

Justin Anderson has agreed to take over the vacant Co-Head Referee position. Additionally, Joina Liao and Shreesh Nayak are now sharing Webmaster & Stats responsibilities, dealing with scoresheet discrepancies and updating the stats page after Tuesday night matches. Please use the webmaster.sfpapool@gmail.com email address to alert them to scoresheet problems or fixes. Thayer McDougle continues to enter results into the FargoRate LMS so our matches show up on the Fargo web site and app.

Welcome to the Spring 2024 season!

The Spring 2024 season of the San Francisco Pool Association has arrived! The Board of Directors is thrilled to welcome the 38 registered teams ahead of an exciting season of pool.

Regular season

Division schedules have been posted in the Calendars section, laying out the plan for the first nine weeks of play. Subsequent weeks will involve interdivisional matches between teams of equal or similar rank.

There are five new venues – The Connection, Fizzee’s, Karl’s Beacon, Peacekeeper, and Rocks Den. Addresses and information about these locations can be found in the Venues tab.

Tournaments

Tournament schedules are being finalized and will be populated into the event calendar over the next couple weeks. For now we would like to highlight three events in particular:

The Captain’s Tournament will take place this Saturday, March 23rd, at the Pilsner Inn. One player per team is allowed to compete.

The Luby Invitational will take place the following Saturday, March 30th, at the Cinch Saloon. All new members and players with sub-.500 records the past two seasons are eligible and participation is free.

And starting in April, qualifiers for the 8-Ball Tournament will begin. These will take place on Saturdays and Thursdays, with the 16 qualifying players vying for the trophy at Family Billiards.

Please click through to the specific event pages for more information.
