Season-ending party

Here’s the schedule for the season-ending party at the Pilsner Inn on Tuesday, July 26:

6 pm – Food buffet begins, catered by the lovely Madeline Wright. Vegetarian options available.
7 pm – Awards ceremony
8 pm – Turkey/Three Lives shootout for a chance to win a prize!

Note that we will begin at 6 pm, not 6:30 pm as stated earlier. You can also come to register your teams for the Fall 2022 season. We hope to see everyone there!

Spring 2022 season wrapup

Thanks to all SFPA members for completing a successful and fun Spring 2022 season! After our first season since 2019 featuring a full 14 weeks of regular season matches, we offer hearty congratulations to the following teams for their performances in the playoffs:

City Championship: Slate of the Union (1st), Eagle Pool Cleaners (2nd), Billiard Palacade Rawhides (3rd)
Founders Cup: Churchill Churchaholics (1st), Pilsner Innmates (2nd), Cinch Pack (3rd)

This is the Churchaholics’ second consecutive Founders Cup win and the fifth City Championship victory for a team sponsored by the Slate bar. We are grateful to Slate owner Patty West for her continued support of the SFPA.

We are also excited to announce that Malcolm King from Shovel This will be the recipient of the Marc Stevens Memorial Award for Most Improved Player. Great job, Malcolm!

Our next season is slated to begin on August 30. Check the interactive calendar for events happening between now and then, including the catered year-end awards party on July 26 at the Pilsner Inn and the West Coast Challenge on August 11-14 at the Hyatt Regency SFO in Burlingame.

Quick note about Hi-Lo

We have made the following slight change to eligibility for the July 17 Hi-Lo tournament:

Old: Players who successfully qualified for the WCC in All-Star, Rising Star, Star Search, or Women’s qualifiers on July 10 were not allowed to participate in Hi-Lo.

New: These players are now allowed to participate in the Hi-Lo on July 17. If one of them happens to win the Hi-Lo event, they will take the WCC Hi-Lo spot and we’ll move down the alternate list for the individual WCC tournament spots. This will impact at most two players since only the winning duo of the Hi-Lo earns a WCC bid (and may not have any impact at all).

In short, all players with 25% regular season participation and who are not on the Slate of the Union team are free to participate in either or both WCC qualifiers on July 10 and July 17 at Billiard Palacade.

We hope this encourages participation in one of the league’s most social and fun events of the year – not to mention helping raise money for SFPA and the West Coast Challenge!
